ISBN C'est quoi ? :

Au 1er janvier  2007 les codes ISBN devront changer pour passer de 10 chiffres actuellement à 13 chiffres .

L’occasion pour nous d’en savoir un peu plus sur ce fameux code.

L’ISBN (International Standard Book Number) est un système international de numérotation pour les livres, il existe depuis 1972 pour les périodiques, il s'agit d'un nombre de 8 caractères appelé ISSN (International Standard Serial Number). Il permet grâce à un code informatique d’identifier le titre, l’édition, l’auteur publié par un éditeur.

Ce code est unique pour chaque édition. Vous trouverez en bas de page la liste des codes éditeurs de BD.

Il facilite le recencement des ouvrages, leur gestion, leur distribution et leur référencement chez les libraires.

L'ISBN n'a aucun intérêt pour le collectionneur, en effet il ne différencie pas les différentes rééditions à l'identique d'un album.

Prenons un exemple isbn 2-903207-08-9

2 indique une édition franco belge

903207 est le code de Bédérama

08 indique qu'il s'agit du 8ième ouvrage ( je doit vérifier ce point avec afnil)

9 est la clef de contrôle (formule à voir)

l'AFNIL (Agence Francophone pour la Numérotation Internationale du Livre) est chargée d'attribuer des ISBN (International Standard Book Number) :

  • aux maisons d'édition,
  • aux associations,
  • aux particuliers,
  • aux entreprises,
  • aux organismes privés,

désirant publier ou produire des ouvrages.

COMMENT RECONNAITRE LES ISBN :

 les ISBN actuels de 10 chiffres


 

l'ISBN de 13 chiffres à partir du 1er Janvier 2007, il est simplement obtenu en rajoutant le chiffre 978


Ce qui donnera avec le code barre exactement le même numéro, soit :
